In 1870 an employee of the Atlantic City - Camden Railroad was challenged with the task of getting passengers to remove sand from their feet before getting on the train after enjoying the Atlantic City Beach.
His solution an eight foot wide elevated path that would help slough the sand off beach goers feet. His name, Alexander Boardman. His namesake, The Boardwalk.
One hundred and thirty nine years later boardwalks have sprung up everywhere. Some may have already seen their best days, others clearly have their best years to come.
No matter how you cut it boardwalks are here to stay and I plan on visiting them all.
